Penny Bank Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below.

I wanted to make a piggy bank for older teens and adults. If you don't like the penny decoration you can still use the bank and add your own decoration.

The center walls are 1.5" thick. I did not have a board that thick so I glue up two 3/4" boards and let the glue dry while I cut the rest of the parts. Everything else is 1/4" thick.

I kept Abe pretty low detailed. I did not think a bank needed a lot of fretwork.

You can see below that I used a layered push and twist coin retrieval cover. As you are gluing the three layers up make sure it fits the hole and turn with some friction. The glue between the layers usually adds enough spacing to have a good fit.

I wanted to add several different front decorations to this pattern but I ran out of time. If there is any interest I will come up with some more.

I also made the coin slot large in case someone does not like the coin retrieval door. You can eliminate the back hole and just shake the coins out. The large slot also makes it easy to insert paper money.

Cool Pattern Upgrade from Donn S:

Donn S. Intarsia

Donn used my Rose Segmentation pattern and turned it in an intarsia pattern. He sent me the picture above and I wanted to share it with you guys. I think he did a great job. I really enjoy it when you guys change my patterns and make them better. I liked my original segmentation pattern but I love Donn's intarsia project. If you want to try this pattern click the image below.

Here is the email I received from Donn.

Thanks for the rose pattern.  I decided to try some intarsia, thanks to Kathy Wise.  The Rose is padauk (pa-duke), the green is poplar, the background is cedar fence boards, and the frame is oak.  Lots of mistakes but if I claim it is rustic, I can get away with some stuff.  Thanks again for all you do.  Donn S.
