In my half of the world, it is now officially Spring. The weather here in southern Indiana was absolutely beautiful yesterday. We were in the mid-'60s with blue skies. Today it is supposed to be a high of 70 with partly cloudy skies. We are just days away from seeing the leaves on the trees come back. I have a wooded area in the back of my house so I am looking forward to the greenery. I have a large window beside my desk with a nice view.
I know that many woodworkers are just starting to get back in their shops after the winter cold. I'll do my best to keep you busy with new patterns.
This "Hello Spring" pattern comes in two sizes. The large pattern is 12" wide and the small pattern is 10.25" wide. In the simulated images above I show one with a wash paint or color stain finish. I think this pattern calls for a little color. I feel like a wash that still shows the wood grain would look nice.
This is a video I did back in 2019. I wanted to show it again because I believe it is an important technique for the new scrollers to see. I get questions all the time from scrollers who run into problems because they have not learned this technique yet. I consider this to be the most important scroll saw technique you can learn. It is only four minutes and thirty seconds long.
