If you cut this as designed there are a few hundred interior cuts. That parts are all 1/4" thick so stack cutting is going to cut the project time in half. If you just want a tote then eliminate the interior pattern and it makes the project pretty simple and maybe an hour or less to cut.
Patter number two for today.
The next pattern can also be made easier by eliminating the interior cut pattern on the lid. My original intent for the openings was not for decoration. I wanted to be able to see what was in the box with a glance.
The dowels under the lid are to keep the lid from sliding all the way out.
One of the uses of my laser cutters is to test my patterns. Because I produce so many patterns it is difficult to cut them with the scroll saw. I just don't have that much time. When I am designing 3D patterns it is easy to get a tab or cutout in the wrong position when you only see it in 2D.
Most of the time I can catch the errors while 3D modeling the project but sometimes it is just nice to see it cut and assembled.
I cut both of today's projects on the laser. To save time and material I reduced the patterns to 50% and used 1/8" thick plywood for the test. That is what you see below. It took about 30 minutes to cut both patterns.
