George from the Woodworkers Guild of America Talks about Glue with a representative from Titebond.
This was a live YouTube video so the content is free flowing but there is a ton of good information here. George talks with Bob Behnke from Titebond. Bob is a chemist and master woodworker. He understands the chemistry of adhesives and can apply it to everyday woodworking.
There are a ton of myths and confusion in the woodworking community about how glue works and should be used. It is not every day that you have an opportunity to hear facts from someone in the industry. This video is long but you will learn if you have the time to watch the video.
Much of the information in this video is obviously about Titebond but it mostly applies to all adhesives. I have used Titebond glue for years and am convinced they make a great product.
As a side note, I had several questions about using Titebond II on cutting boards recently. At the 46-minute mark, Bob discusses this subject. He said that the cutting board industry uses both Titebond II and III for their glue-ups. Titebond three has the advantage of passing the boiling water test. Boiling cutting boards is not something I would recommend but it obviously gives more strength. My opinion is that you can use either II or III with good results.
