I have done"Ship in a Bottle" patterns before but they were all a single layer. I added five layers to give the ship some depth. The three middle layers are 1/4" thick and the pattern calls for the two outer layers to be 1/2" thick. Obviously, you can use 1/4" for all the layers but make the two 1/2" layers, four 1/4" layers.
The bottle is a little over ten inches long. Another option is to cut two more 1/8" layers from cast acrylic to enclose the bottle.
The skeleton casket pattern is 10.25" long and cut from 6 different layers. Each layer is 1/4" thick.
I have always wanted a Ship in a Bottle. For some reason, I never purchased one, so I decided to remedy that tonight. I just ordered one on Amazon. It is not an expensive Ship in a Bottle, but it received decent reviews. It only costs $24. From the reviews, the bottle is glass, not plastic. The water was said not to be very realistic. On eBay.com the more expensive Ships in a bottle go for $1,000 plus. That is way out of my range but at least I'll have one to sit in my office. Here is an affiliate link to the one I purchased.
