WARNING: This Lantern is not designed for a real candle. Battery-powered candles only.

This Lantern is a cover for up to a 3.75" diameter electric candle. A candle around 6" to 7" tall will work fine. Depending on the candle, you may get a 4" diameter candle to fit, but it will be a very close fit.

Why Spray Adhesive and Blue Painters Tape

Everyone has their favorite way to apply a scroll saw pattern to wood—this is mine.

I got an email recently from a guy who just bought his first scroll saw. He’d been looking online for tips and came across my YouTube channel. He told me he’d been applying patterns in a couple of different ways: either hand-drawing them or using carbon paper to trace printed patterns onto the wood. That approach had been working okay for him, but after watching one of my videos, he got curious about my method. He had tried spray adhesive before but didn’t like how messy it was to remove the pattern afterward.

So, for anyone new to scroll sawing, here’s how I do it:

I like to use 3M 45 spray adhesive when I can find it. It used to be the cheapest option, but not so much anymore. I also pick up the widest blue painter’s tape I can get—usually around 3 inches wide.

First, I cover the area of the wood where the pattern will go with the blue tape. Then I give the back of the paper pattern a light coat of spray adhesive. After that, I stick the pattern onto the taped area and press it down to make sure it’s nice and secure.

Now, why bother with the blue tape? A lot of people skip it and stick the pattern directly to the wood. But here’s the thing: depending on the spray glue, that pattern can really cling to the wood and be a pain to remove—sometimes it comes off in tiny little bits. The blue tape just makes cleanup a whole lot easier.

When it comes to woodworking, there’s rarely just one “right” way to do something. My method works well and saves time, but it’s not the cheapest. Using tracing paper is much more affordable, but it definitely takes longer. You’ve got to find what works best for your tools, your budget, and your workflow.
