Yesterday I posted the four wooden toy cars. My wife reminded me that not every child wants to play with cars. I thought I should make a toy that may appeal to more children. This pattern includes four wooden pull toys.
Everything is cut from 3/4" wood. For a more secure connection, the animals have a tab under their base that glues into a slot on the wheelbase.
I used 1.25" wheels and 7/32" axle pegs. These sizes are not critical. Use what you have.
The chain may not be the best choice for the pull but it was all I had available. I used a U nail to attach the pull chain. An eyelet screw would probably be safer.
The Bear Woods Toy drive is off to a great start. If you want to see the details go to yesterday's post.
They had over 500 pledges for toys. These pull toys should give you another toy for the effort.

OLFA 9881 RM-SG 18-Inch x 24-Inch Self-Healing Double-Sided Rotary Mat
I use self-healing mats on my workbench to cut down paper patterns. These things are expensive but Amazon has better prices than most places. This one is 24" and sells for $29.24 on Amazon. In my local craft store, this would sell for over $40. Combined with a good straight edge and Exacto knife I can cut down patterns pretty effectively.
- Self-healing reseals surface cuts
- Suitable for any small to medium size project
- Use only rotary cutters and blades
- Yellow grid lines on one side for detailed cutting
