Hobbies are good for the mind and the body. I have said it often and will say it again. Hobbies make our lives better.
As many as 50 million people in the US knit. That is a huge number. A poll from the Craft and Yarn Council says that :
93% of respondents said that knitting gave them a sense of accomplishment.
85% said it reduced their stress.
68% said it improves their mood.
56% said it increased their sense of confidence.
Where are knitters in the US?
Northeast 22%
Southeast 24%
Midwest 28%
West 11%
Southwest 8%
Northwest 7%
How old are knitters?
15% were 18-34 years old
13% were 35-44
23% were 45-54
32% were 55-64
17% were over 65.
I bet that if we took a similar poll in the scroll saw community we would come up with similar results
on how our hobby improves our lives. Just think about how important minimizing stress and feeling a sense of accomplishment is. It is very important for your mental and physical health.
If you have a friend who seems interested in your crafting then take a few minutes to see if they might be interested in trying it themselves. You just might make their life better.
The two patterns in this book both come in two sizes. One is just over 10 inches wide and the other is 13 inches wide. I am showing them cut from 1/4" thick wood but that is only a suggestion.
