Juneteenth Flag Scroll Saw Pattern.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on 19 June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

You can cut this Juneteenth flag pattern like a segmentation. Cut the parts from a single board. Sand all the edges with a nice round-over. Paint the parts and glue them back together on the backer board. The round-over provides definition and a nice shadow line.

Want to do the happy dance? Get a hobby!

The world is a complex place. Dealing with those complexities is not always easy. We all feel a certain amount of stress, anxiety, and depression. When those things get out of balance with our happiness it can get difficult to cope.

Spending time on an activity that you enjoy can improve your mental health and wellbeing. Research shows that people with hobbies are less likely to suffer from stress, low mood, and depression. Activities that get you out and about can make you feel happier and more relaxed.

How many of you zone out when you are sitting in front of your scroll saw? It is easier to put the difficulties of life away for a few minutes when you are engrossed in a hobby that you are passionate about.

There is a feeling of accomplishment when we make things that we and others can enjoy. That feeling of accomplishment is a balancing factor in the fight against the negative thoughts we have. It is a numbers game in a way. You can't get rid of all the negatives so throw in as many positives as possible.

The moral of this story is to make time for your passions. Schedule time to be happy. Even if you can only get a few minutes in your shop it is worth the effort.

Make an effort to smile when you are scrolling. It is hard to have negative thoughts when you are smiling. Intentionally think about pleasant events while you are scrolling.

So, if you want to do the happy dance get a hobby and some dancing shoes.
