Certainly! Roman gladiators were highly trained warriors who entertained audiences in the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire through violent confrontations in arenas, such as the Colosseum. Gladiators could be slaves, prisoners of war, or volunteers seeking fame and fortune. They were categorized into different classes based on their fighting styles and the weapons they used, such as the heavily armored Murmillo or the lightly armed Retiarius, who used a trident and net.
The first recorded gladiatorial games were held in 264 BC, as a form of ritualistic sacrifice honoring the dead. Over time, these events evolved into popular public spectacles sponsored by politicians and emperors to gain favor with the populace. Gladiator combats often varied from one-on-one duels to large-scale battles involving wild animals.
Despite their brutal nature, gladiatorial games were deeply embedded in Roman culture, symbolizing martial prowess and the power of life and death over others. The games continued for centuries until they were eventually banned by Emperor Honorius in 404 AD, marking the end of an era in Roman history. (Source: Copilot AI)
The Gladiator pattern is fairly large. The soldier is ten inches tall and the lion is ten inches long. The pattern calls for 1/4" thick material.
The Hug a Dog pattern is 8" X 10" with two 1/4" thick layers of wood.

Both patterns today have a floral theme. The Flower Basket can be used as a functional basket to hold tools or a display basket for indoor flowers.
The Flower Pot has three layers. The center layer is 1/4" thick and the two outer layers are 3/4" thick. If you prefer you can use all 1/4" thick wood but you will need to add a base for it to stand up.
