Deer Saw Blade Scroll Saw Pattern

This pattern comes in two sizes. The larger one is spread across two pages and is over ten inches in diameter. The smaller one prints on one page and is eight inches in diameter.

I am showing the simulated project with the backer board painted red. I only do this to make the image more legible. Feel free to finish the backer board to your liking.

We Have A WINNER!!!

The contest has ended and the winner is drawn.

Last week Frank Carey from Papa's Workshop offered to give away one of his excellent Lifters for the DeWalt DW-788 or the Delta 40-690 scroll saws. I know this giveaway was somewhat limited but I wanted to give Frank and his excellent product some love.

I have known and worked with Frank for many years and he is a valued creator to the scroll saw community. Besides offering The Lifter he also has other products on his site including personalized patterns and more. Make sure you check out his site even if you don't need The Lifter.

Ok..... Let get to the winner......

BARRY BURNS

from Pompano Beach Fl.
Barry, I will get your entry over to Frank so he can contact you
and ship your prize. Congratulations.

Thanks to everyone who entered. I wish you all could win but that might put Frank out of business so we don't want that.

Amazon Price for the Excalibur EX21 from General International:

General International's Excalibur EX-21 sells at Home Depot for $799. That includes the stand and foot switch. I don't see an option to buy it without the accessories on Home Depot's site.

Amazon has the Saw alone for $629.99. With the stand and foot switch their price is $709.98. That is an $89 savings over Home Depot. From what I can see the Amazon price is right there with the lowest prices online.

Let's talk about what happened with the Excalibur scroll saw the last few years. For many years General International distributed the Excalibur scroll saw in North America. The saw was manufactured in Taiwan to very high-quality standards. I own one and have always be very happy with it.

Several months back out of the blue we could no longer find any stock of the Excalibur saw in any store or online. We were told at first that it was just back ordered. Months went by and the rumor mill was saying that the machine was dead and gone. It was difficult to get solid information about what was happening.

I reached out to a few industry sources and basically determined that General International and the Taiwanese manufacturer were in some kind of contract dispute. I figured the machine was probably gone.

Well, I guess they could not mend their dispute/contract because General International now has the Excalibur saws manufactured in China.

What does this mean for quality control? I don't know. There is always the concern that a new manufacturer might need some time to get all the kinks worked out. I am sure it is a monumental task to set up a line to manufacture a complex machine like the Excalibur saw.

I have not had a chance to get my hands on one of the machines manufactured in China yet. I can not give a first-hand review. I'll do my best to get one next year and test it out.

The good news is that the machine has been selling for a few months now and I am not hearing anything from you guys. When there are problems I usually hear about it. I have had two industry insiders tell me the machine is noisier than the old machine.

Time will tell. If you decide to buy this machine just use the same advice I give for all tool purchases. Buy from a reputable source with a good return policy.

Last chance to order Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns.

I think it is time to stop taking orders for the ornament patterns. I will keep the order form up another day. After that these patterns will no longer be available. They will be retired. I want to thank all of you who ordered the patterns this year. It was another successful year for orders. It was much appreciated.
