Event Frame Scroll Saw Patterns.

Download Below

It is estimated that more than 1 trillion photos are taken every year around the world. If you printed and stacked them up they would reach a height of 200,000 miles. The smartphone has changed the world as far as photography is concerned. Approximately 5 billion people own a mobile phone. 80% of those phones have a camera.

Here is the sad news about all of these photos that are taken. Most of them will be gone in only a few years. People happily take hundreds of photos but seldom print them. Printed photos have a much better chance of lasting for generations than digital files.

Pick out a few of the best pictures and have them printed. When your phone dies you will be happy to have those prints.

While you are at it make sure your photos are being backed up to the cloud.

Eleven event frames for 4" X 6" landscape orientation photos. Cut entirely from 1/4" wood. No hardware needed.

I cut this from maple. You could also use contrasting wood for the inner and outer frames.

Dull Scroll Saw Blades Ruin Projects:

Most of us hate to throw away something that is still working. When it comes to scroll saw blades we often push them past their useful life. I have thousands of scroll saw blades and I still catch myself trying to get finished with a project with a dull blade. That is a mistake on my part.

When I make that decision to keep running a dull blade I often pay the price. Dull blades do not cut accurately. They drift and make it much more difficult to stay on the pattern line. That results in a sloppy looking project.

The usable life of a scroll saw blade varies quite a bit depending on what you are cutting and other factors. Some materials, like Baltic birch plywood, will dull the blade quickly. When I cut walnut it seems like the blade will last all night(exaggeration).

It is almost impossible to put a time on the life of the blade. You have to pay attention to the performance of the blade. If you start burning the edges of the wood, drifting off the pattern line, or having to push the wood into the blade harder, you probably have a dull blade.

Start every project with a new blade. As you cut pay attention to how the new blade is cutting the material. If you start to notice changes in the cut then you may need to replace the blade.

It is also a good idea to buy high-quality blades. Every scroller will have different opinions on which blades they like the best. If you are new to scrolling then it will take you a while to find your favorite.

I use Pegas and Niqua(Flying Dutchman) blades exclusively. They are my favorite brands and almost every scroller will be happy with one of these two brands. They cut differently but they are both excellent blades.
