Old Friends and Old Wine are the Best Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below

The pattern is ~10.5" wide and 6.5" tall. I am showing the simulated picture with an optional red-painted backer board. You can hang this one above the door to your wine cellar. :)

What? You don't have a wine cellar? Then how about this beautiful NutriChef 12 bottle Wine Cooler?  Wow, I have stooped to a new low to try to get you to click my affiliate link. Don't do it. You don't want to set a bad example and encourage me to post shameless advertisements. I mean it. Don't click that link. I'm not kidding. If you click that link the temptation may be too strong. You will spend money that you need for the kid's new school shoes. I don't want that on my head. Your kids deserve new shoes. Okay, that's settled.....

Americans drank 966 million gallons of wine in 2018. That's almost 3 gallons of wine per every man, woman, and child in the US. Hey, Chuck, I don't drink so you can have my 3 gallons.

Easy Animal Puzzles Scroll Saw Patterns

Download Below

This pattern book contains ten puzzles of five animals. Each animal has a standup and a tray puzzle.

I painted the tray puzzle. Please use child-safe paint if you plan to give this to any child young enough to put it in their mouth. Do a Google search for "child-safe paint" and educate yourself on the subject. Here is a link to a video discussing a child-safe paint technique.

The standup puzzles are a good example of the discussion I had the other day about selecting scroll saw blades. I cut the standup whale from 1" thick walnut but I used a #3 blade. A #3 would be considered a small blade for that thick of material but a larger blade would have made the pieces too sloppy for a good fit. Even a #3 is a little loose. I want it a bit loose for small children.

When you cut thick wood with a small blade you have to be careful not to let the blade flex in the cut. If you do the pieces will not slide apart easily. Add plenty of tension to the blade. Let the blade to the cutting. Don't feed the board faster than the blade can cut. Use a new, sharp blade.

When you finish cutting the standup puzzles sand all the sharp edges smooth. You want the puzzles to feel good in the child's hands. I did not apply any finish to the standup puzzle.
