Easter Cross Scroll Saw Pattern.

Just a quick answer to a question I get many times a year. I place no restrictions on the projects made from my patterns. You are free to make as many projects from my patterns as you wish including mass production for commercial use.

The only restriction I have are on my patterns. The patterns have to remain free if you pass them along. Please keep the cover page attached if you do pass the patterns along to others.

For those of you who do not have a printer the pattens can be taken to a print shop. There is a note to the print shop employees on the bottom of the cover page. It let's them know you are free to make as many prints as you need. They will often tell you they cannot reprint copyrighted material. This note will let them know it is okay.

Smart Phone Pistol Grip for Camera Use. Video Demo and Scroll Saw Pattern.

I use my iPhone 6 plus to take pictures of the projects on my blog. I also use it as a video camera for personal use. This smart phone pistol grip really works well to hold the camera. Watch the video for all the details.

Here is the link to the $8 tripod mount I used in this project. Any Smart Phone tripod should work. In the next project I think I'll build a DIY tripod mount to attach to this grip.

The couple pieces of hardware can be purchased at Home Depot or any good Big Box hardware store. You will need a wing screw that is 1/4", 20TPI, 3/4" long. Also a 5/16" neoprene washer to hold the wing screw in the grip.

The PhoneFoot.

Introducing the PhoneFoot from Deal-O-Matic. Do you own a smart phone? Yes you do. Does your smart phone stand up by it's self? No it does not. Do you have $19.95? Of course you do. But wait!!! The PhoneFoot will not cost you $19.95! It won't even cost you $9.95. If you act right now the PhoneFoot can be yours for zippo, nada. But wait there's more.... For the same low price you can have the premium ball chain included with your order. That's a $29.95 value yours free for picking up that phone right now and dialing 1-800-DAPHONE...

Operators are standing by. Don't miss out. Prices will double when word gets out about this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The PhoneFoot is 3 inches by 1 inch. You have larger pieces of wood in you shop trash basket.

The PhoneFoot will hold your smart phone up-right so you can watch a video at your desk. Sit it beside your bed with an alarm clock app. It will hold smaller phones in portrait mode and landscape. Larger phones like my iPhone 6-plus only works well in landscape mode. If you cut two you can place them on each side and hold an iPad also.

I added the ball chain so I can carry it on my key chain but  you can leave it off if that's better for you.

I cut mine from 1/4" Thick Baltic Birch Ply. Any nice hard wood would also add a little pizazz.

Self Assembling Table Saw by Frank Howarth.

This video produced by Frank is fascinating to watch. Frank has a great YouTube channel. He is a woodworker with a lot of patience. I can't imagine how much time he put into this video. As a matter of fact he also has a video showing how he produced this video. Do yourself a favor and spend a few minutes to watch this video.

Tablet Stand for Writers Scroll Saw Pattern.

If you write for long periods of time on your iPad or other tablet you know it's not that comfortable. This stand is designed to sit on a desk and give the tablet a better angle to type on the onscreen keyboard.

I spend a lot of time answering email. I find this stand makes it much easier for me to use my iPad to type. There are two cross members in the pattern. If you want a wider base for a laptop use the longer cross member.

Kitchen, Garden or Workshop Scoop on the Scroll Saw.

Every once in a while it's nice to build something just for the functionality of it. This scoop is cut in three pieces. Complete instructions are included in the pattern. You can use the scoop at your plant potting station or in the kitchen. There are no interior cuts so if you have a pin end blade scroll saw this pattern will work great for you.

I used a router to round over the handle and bottom of the scoop. If you don't have a router you can still complete the project but it will require a lot more sanding. The curve on the front of the scoop was made with a belt sander. If you don't have a power belt sander then wrap sandpaper around a block of wood and taper the front of the scoop.

Ship in a Bottle II Scroll Saw Pattern.

I published a ship in a bottle pattern a couple years ago but this one is a little more detailed. The bottle is over ten inches long. There are several very small interior cuts in this pattern. I made sure a 1/16" drill bit can be used for all the starter holes. It's a little tight but will work.

Are you looking to upgrade your entry level scroll saw? The DeWalt DW788 is one of the most popular saws sold. I own two of them myself and have received excellent service from them. The DeWalt has all the features you want. Up front controls, nice large table, easy blade change, adjustable speed and more.

I noticed that the current price on Amazon is $455.00. I do recommend that you purchase the DW7880 stand for the saw. It will run you another $71 from Amazon. If you are an Amazon Prime member these products are eligible for free shipping. Both are sold by and shipped from Amazon.

For full disclosure I am an Amazon Affiliate and the links below are my affiliate links. This gives me a small commission for the sale and does not change your price at all. If you are interested in these products I appreciate you using the links to buy the machine. I will keep these links in the daily posts to a minimum but I thought this was a good enough deal to pass on.

A very simple photo frame scroll saw pattern.

This pattern requires a 2 3/4" photo frame insert with a 2 1/2" mounting diameter. You can order a compatible frame from Klockit.

The pattern is seven inches long.

The insert hole is best drilled out with a 2 1/2" forstner bit. They are somewhat expensive at that size. The mounting hole can but cut on your scroll saw. Just take your time and slightly undercut the hole. Better to be a bit small than too large. You can open the hole up by sanding. If you get the hole too big you will have to wrap the clock insert with tape until it is a snug fit.

If you are not familiar with www.klockit.com, it is a wonderful site to order clock supplies.

I get email from readers asking me to send older patterns that they have seen on my blog. Just a reminder that all the patterns are always available in my free online catalog on the blog. The link to the catalog is in the left column. All the patterns are in categories so they can be found without too much searching.

It's Basketball Time!!!!

I spent all day watching NCAA basketball tourney games. I absolutely love this time of year. The NCAA tournament gets underway next week. To me it is the most exciting sporting event all year. It's lose and go home so every game is the end of someone's year. Of course the fact that I live in Lexington KY the home of the UK wildcats make it even more special.

After watching so much basketball today I decided to do a basketball pattern.

The trophy is over ten inches tall. The basic trophy can be personalized with your favorite team name. Just download and use my Scrollsaw Stencil Printer program to make a name plate no longer than nine inches long to fit the trophy. You can download the program here. If you need instruction to use the program you will find a tutorial video here
