Garden Animals Scroll Saw Patterns.

It's that time of year when we are all out in the yard getting our landscaping and gardens in shape. My wife wanted a raised flower garden for Mother's day. I'm a little late but I got it done this weekend. She has an injury that makes it difficult to work down low so this will give her a chance to work comfortably. It's 24 inches tall but I put a raised bottom in to reduce the amount of dirt I would have to buy. It ended up only needing 25 cubic feet of soil. I got it filled up yesterday so now it just need flowers. I think she likes it. Building this made me think about designing a garden project. Today's project is very simple. You can cut these in minutes. Add a little paint and they are ready to plant.

These Garden Animal patterns can decorate your potted flowers or plant them right in your garden.
If you want them larger for outdoor use you can use the RapidResizer utility on the blog. There are eleven different animal patterns to choose from. I used 1/4" thick Baltic Birch ply and added a good coat of paint to protect the wood.

Email address change.

I want to pass along a change with my email address. I have several different email addresses but one is going away. Some of you still use the one I am losing so please make this change. If you have me listed as stevegood AT insightbb.com please stop using that address. I am spelling out the @ to stop spam so substitute the @ for the AT.

I now use steve AT stevedgood.com as my primary email address. I am slowly getting everything updated but it is a pain to lose an address I have used for years.

If you forget the email address the easiest way to get it is to use the "Email Me" button on the blog. It directs all email to the correct address. Thanks.

Blockhead People for the kids.

Make up several of these quick Blockhead people and leave them blank. When the kids come over let then color the faces with magic markers. For younger children I recommend non-permanent magic markers or paint pens. The block is 2.5" X 3.5" X 1". I included patterns for the feet and arms. I didn't use the arms on Frank. I used axle pegs for Frank's bolts.

If you want to duplicate Frank I show all three views in the pattern so you can copy the drawing.
The magic marker tends to run a little on the wood. You might experiment with coating the wood with spray acrylic first then applying the magic marker.
