Bless This Kitchen Trivet Scroll Saw Pattern.

"Bless this Kitchen", trivet. There are two patterns. The large trivet pattern is seven inches. The small trivet pattern is sic inches.

A good finish for a trivet is a 50/50 mix of oil-based poly and mineral spirits. The mineral spirits thin out the poly and allow it to flow into the cutout and grain. The poly gives it at least some protection from the heat. Remember that if you sit something hot enough on wood it will scorch. I don't care what finish you use. It is better for the trivet to scorch than your countertop.

You can use almost any species of wood but some will scorch easier than others. Cherry scorches easily. Red oak would be a good choice as well as walnut.

Here is a quick fact: This is post 4,555 on my blog. That is somewhere around 26 posts per month for almost 15 years. I owe all of that fun to all of you who allow me to keep doing what I do. Thanks for all of the support.

The Third Coast Craftsman restores a rare 1800 era scroll saw.

I enjoy watching old tool restoration videos. I especially like them when the goal is to put them back into running order so they can be used. In this video, Chris does exactly that. His goal is to use the saw in his shop. He shares a lot of good tips.

These vintage scroll saws are not very smooth or efficient but they get the job done and look beautiful in the process.

The video is a bit over 16 minutes.

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
