This vase is 6" wide and 7" tall. It is layered from 3/4" thick wood and 1/4" thick wood. This vase will take a while to cut because of the weave pattern. The bigger challenge is to cut the outer lines of the pattern so the pieces fit as flush as possible. If they don't then you have extra sanding to do.
The tropical bird is 8" wide and tall. There are two 1/4" thick layers.
In Remembrance of Judy Gale Roberts.
In 2024 the scroll saw community lost a legend and friend to many in our community. Judy was one of the kindest people I ever had the opportunity to work with. I considered her a friend and someone I looked up to.
I noticed that they have the final pattern that she designed available and on sale for January. If you ever had the chance to take one of Judy's classes and got to know her then this is a pattern that will be a keepsake and treasure. I thought you all might love to see her final work.

The cat and little girl pattern is another easy pattern to cut. There is only one interior cut. The pattern comes in two sizes. The small pattern is 4" tall so it is another good project to use up small wood scraps.
The tray pattern is not going to be an easy pattern to cut. It falls in the intermediate range. The fretwork has a few weak areas and you will need to be careful with handling the walls until you get the backer boards glued on.
Let's discuss the bottom. It is 11" X 11" because of the size the pattern needs to be broken up over four sheets of paper. Four slots need to line up with the tabs in the walls. You need to cut and tape the pattern together carefully. I would not cut the slots in the bottom until I had completed and glued up the walls. Place the wall section on the bottom with the pattern to ensure they line up. If not then adjust the slot pattern.

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
