Eight-inch prayer plate.
This prayer plate seemed appropriate today as I attend the visitation services of my friend who passed away. I want to thank all of you who sent condolences emails the last couple of days. Your thoughts and prayers for me and the family of my friend are a bright spot in a week of sadness.
GIVEAWAY WINNERS:
The giveaway winners have been chosen. The giveaway ended on the 31st. I have sent the names and email addresses to Stephen of Bear Woods. He is attending the Midwest Scroll Saw and Woodworking Trade Show this weekend. He will announce the winners in a live event form the show. As soon as he has announced the winners I will also post them here on the blog. Thanks to everyone who entered.
I hate to paint wood!
One of the hardest things for me to do is paint a beautiful piece of wood. I love the natural look of wood and covering it up always give me indigestion. :)
That may be a little over dramatic and there are times when paint is called for. Many folk art projects look better when painted. I like to sometime paint the backer board of a two-layer project. Toys can be painted with childproof paint. I almost always paint the accessories of my stick man patterns. Christmas projects often call for color. Like I said there are times when paint is called for even when those times hurt my feelings. Here is what I use.
I have found that these Americana brand paints work great. They almost always cover in one coat. They can be thinned with water for a wash effect. They clean up with water and they are not terribly expensive for what you get. Because they cover in one coat you don't use too much.
You can find these paints in Walmart, Meijers and most hobby stores. I have purchased mine at Meijer and on Amazon. You can buy them individually or in the value pack. I bought the value pack and just replace the empty ones with the individual bottles.
