Oval Christmas Box Scroll Saw Pattern.

This is a simple oval scroll saw box. The Box is simple but the decoration on top of the box will be a bit of a challenge. It's going to get fragile. Don't use an open grain wood like red oak. It's going to break if you do. Soft maple or cherry would be a better choice.

Choose your interior cuts wisely. Start with the smallest openings working your way out to the larger openings. Be careful handling the decoration until you get it glued to the box top. You will also have to apply the glue very carefully so you don't get any squeeze out. It will be hard to clean up if you do.

As you can tell from the picture I have not cut this pattern. I know it's going to be hard to keep from breaking the piece. Don't let that stop you from giving it a try. If you are successful you will have a very nice project. Just take your time and I think you can do it.
