Clay Pot Basket Scroll Saw/Laser Pattern.

Download Below

Yes I cheated. I used a laser to cut this project. I had a good reason I promise.

I have a person who has asked me to help them get started making products with their laser. They know how to operate the laser but they don't know how to design the patterns with CorelDraw. We used Zoom video conferencing to design this project together. It was kind of fun and it worked well.

The good news is that the pattern works just as well for scroll saws as it does for lasers minus the engraving. The project uses the 3 1/8" clay pots I have been using lately. All the wood is 1/8" Baltic birch plywood. With stack cutting, you can knock these out pretty quickly.

As an option, you can leave out the section with the holes for the pots. You can also make a larger hole in the middle for a larger pot. You could also turn this into a hanging plant holder by drilling a couple of holes in the handle to a chain.

If you plan to use the clay pots you may want to consider permanently installing the pot drip trays under the pots with hot glue.

So accomplished two projects at the same time today. I helped someone learn a little about CorelDraw and I came out of that with a pattern for my scrolling friends. That's a good day.

Home of Pegas scroll saw blades.

Amazon has a few parts available for the trusty DeWalt DW788  scroll saw. The DeWalt is one of the most popular scroll saws ever sold. There are thousands of them out there still kicking after many years of use.

They do occasionally need parts. These parts are shipped by DeWalt and it looks like delivery time is about a week for most of them. The blade chuck is a common failure part than is often overlooked. They will separate from over-tightening the thumbscrew. Once the chuck is bent the blade will constantly slip out of the holder. You can see this by carefully looking at how the set screw and thumb screw contact each other. They need to be perfectly flat against each other.
