I received an email a few days ago showing a new idea. Doug Price works on a ship that sails the oceans from the east coast to the west coast. The ship is ~600 feet long and 100 feet wide. That's a big boat. Doug had a need for door signs on the ship. He used my (Scroll Saw Key Chain Maker) software to design the signs. He printed and resized them for his purpose on a copier. I though that was a great idea I had not thought of. He free handed the curve where the eyelet would be and had a sign.
Doug has two Delta Q3 scroll saws. One in his shop at home and the other on the ship. The saw has lived on three ships and has been as far East as the Mediterranean and as far West as Singapore. The saw is located in the engine room where the light is not great. He prints the patterns in red for better visibility. Doug cuts all his projects from scrap wood he finds on board the ship and some mail order craft wood.
Doug says "
Scrolling is a way to make me
feel attached to my workshop when I am away at sea, and also a great way
to relax and get my mind off of the job during my off hours."
I love hearing these stories from my readers. It's so inspirational to hear what people will overcome to pursue our great hobby. Thanks Doug.

Think Safety
Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
