Sometimes the simpler the pattern the nicer the project looks. This mantel clock does not have any fancy fretwork. It dose not need any. This clock gets all it needs from the beautiful wood it's made out of. This wood came from the demo pack that I got from Heritage Wood Specialties. The clock is made from Satin wood for the body and Purple Heart for the base. Any two contrasting hardwoods will look great.
If you do not have a 3" diameter forstner bit for the clock you can cut out the insert hole with your scroll saw. Carefully cut just inside the pattern line for a snug fit. You can always sand some wood away if it's too tight.
I used a round-over bit in my router to give the clock body a very slight round-over on the top edges. Don't round-over more that allows the clock to sit inside the round-over.
The base has a larger round-over allowing the full profile of a bead round-over bit to show. The feet once again just have a slight round-over.

Information:
I made some changes to the Easter pattern I posted two days ago. I was reminded the at any reference to Jesus such as "He" should be capitalized. I also changed the wording to a translation that sounds better. The pattern can be downloaded again at the online catalog if you prefer the changes.
Guest Video:
Steve Ramsey shows a cool technique in this video that might give a project some bling. It's called hydro dipping. Looks wild and crazy and right out of the 60's.
