Toy Beauty Set Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below

Okay, grandpa. It's time to get out in the shop and make a beauty-set for your granddaughter. I noticed that in yesterday's post of toys that there were not many for young girls. I will try to make up for that over the next few weeks.

These patterns are just about as easy as it gets. All the pieces are 1/4" thick with very few interior cuts. It took me less than an hour. I did spend a little time sanding the edges to make them easier to hold. I could/should have sanded even more. The edges should be practically rounded over.

I did edit the scissors pattern after I made the ones in the picture. If you look closely at the picture you will see that they will not close all the way. I fixed that problem in the final pattern.

There is also one extra pattern that is not shown in the pictures. I added a perfume bottle.

This is a good time to do a safety check:

It looks like many of us have some extra time at home right now. It is a good time to think about being productive. Sitting in the recliner is productive. I saw logs there every day. Maybe I need to reevaluate my definition of being productive but I like my recliner.

When I retired a few years ago I came up with a rule for myself. I made the commitment that I would do at least one productive chore every day. The chore did not have to be a big event but I just did not want to have days where I watched television all day or only played on the computer.

I have been fairly good at following my rule. Only if I am sick do I fail.

My chore for today is to do a safety check in my shop. Part of my routine safety check is to clean the shop. I will do that first. After it is somewhat cleaned up I start just looking around. I always have trip hazards that I need to take care of. My shop is small and things get put in places they do not belong.

I have way more tools in my shop than the power circuit is designed for so I have somethings unplugged but other tools are plugged into power strips. Those strips need to be checked often. Any signs of heat and something needs to change. I also check all the cords for cuts or cracks. Some of my power cords run across the floor and get lots of contact with wheels and foot traffic. They need to be checked.

One big problem I have right now is out of date chemicals that have slowly gotten stored in the wrong places. If it can catch on fire it needs to be stored properly.

Dull blades are a safety hazard. A sharp blade is much safer. It is time for me to shapen a few tools and I need to replace my table saw blade. I don't have those sharpened because I don't buy expensive blades.

My WEN air purifier is way past due for a filter clean and change. That is on my list. I will also empty the shop vacs and dust collection cyclone/bag.

My fire extinguisher is likely out of date. I'll check that and probably order another one from Amazon.

If I accomplish all of that I will go be productive in my recliner sawing those logs. You can never have enough sawed logs.

Maybe this is a reminder for you of some things you could check.

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
