Cut from 1/8" Baltic birch plywood and acrylic sheet.
I don't have my glasses on in the pictures. It will fit over glasses but the pictures don't show well with the glasses on.
There are times when we need extra eye protection in the shop. A full-face shield gives more protection than our glasses. This simple set of frame pattern comes in three sizes. I don't know how well the sizes will fit everyone but it's not to difficult to make adjustments.
In the face shield above I used a 1/8" thick acrylic sheet. In the picture below I used a transparency. The transparency gives a curved shield for more side protection. It is also easier to cut than acrylic.
When I cut an acrylic sheet I stack the acrylic between two sheets of 1/8" BB ply, wrapped in blue painters tape. This keeps the heat down and prevents the acrylic from remelting your cuts. I also give a cleaner edge.
I'm sure everyone is thinking the same thing. No, I did not design this for Covid 19 protection. If you use it for that, I don't imply any protection benefits from this mask. Those little critters are sneaky. Rumor has it that you can catch Covid from cable tv. The virus comes right down the cable and jumps to your remote. You should always wear gloves when you use your remote.
I used a spring clip design to hold the shield in place. This makes it easy to remove and replace when needed.
Bear Woods - Gives
Watch the VideoOur community of scroll saw enthusiasts have always been giving with their time. I know that many of you make scroll saw projects and gift them to charitable causes. I talk with several of you who have been doing this work for years. Here is an opportunity to get some help with expenses so you can do even more good for your cause. If you cant participate in one of these causes then maybe you would like to donate to those who do. This is for you also.
My good friends at Bear Woods set aside November for a program they call Bear Woods Gives. I'll let you watch the video above for all the details but basically, they sponsor a new maker each day of November who does charitable work. They feature that person and the cause. They collect donations and then match the dollar amount with either cash or supplies.
If you would like to see if you can be sponsored as a featured artist then watch the video for details. If you would like to participate with your donations the go to this link.
Here is one example of a group of dedicated woodworkers who give their time to help with Toys for Tots. Take a few minutes to read their story. Throughout the month of November Bear Woods will feature a group or individual just like these folks.
Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns are ready to order:
I am ready to start taking Personalized Christmas Ornament Pattern orders.
I can do first or last names but remember that more than ten letters will be more difficult to cut.
The order form will take up to 20 names for people and 5 names for pets. If you need more than 20/5 then start a second order.
You will not pay until you have the patterns and are 100% happy with them. There will be an invoice sent with the patterns to your email. You will have the option to pay securely with a credit card or send a check to the included address.
I am shooting for a three-day turnaround but that may be difficult for a few days until I get all the kinks worked out. I'll do my best. You can set a bookmark for each of the order forms but I will post them almost every day until Christmas.
