This is a very simple pattern to cut. It is all 1/2" thick wood and there are only four interior cuts. You can cut this from hardwood, plywood. If you use MDF then a paint job is probably needed.
There is a lock pin to hold the halves together. This seems cruel but no dogs were harmed in the making of this project.
I used a 1/4" diameter wooden dowel and cut a slot in the end to hold a thin wedge. I cut the wedge on the scroll saw. It holds pretty well
I did not cut the cat version but you can see the included parts in this image.
I am a big fan of simple projects when you sell at craft shows or other events. Phil from Phil's Craft Corner on YouTube earns extra money with his scroll saw.
Click to Watch the VideoI wanted to share this video because I think it shows an important concept. If you ever sign up to sell at a craft show, I believe you can do well with simple projects. It is easier to build up inventory with simple to cut projects and you won't have too much time invested in each piece.
The challenge is to find those simple projects that will get the customer's attention. Phil's Easter Egg Bunnies are a very good example of simple and just cute enough to get attention. Obviously, holidays are easier to develop a product for but you can come up with unique projects for almost any occasion.
Pinterest is a wonderful resource to help develop ideas. You can see what's trending in the craft community.
Yes, there is a lot more to selling than just simple projects but this is a good start. It may feel boring to make 25 of the same thing but it gets more exciting when people like and buy the product.
If your local church or town has a small craft fair go ahead and sign up. You may enjoy the interaction with the people. It is always fun to tell 100 people a day that "No I did not cut these on a laser. They are hand cut". Trust me you will have that conversation eventually. :)

Charmin Ultra Soft Cushiony Touch Toilet Paper, 18 Family Mega Rolls = 90 Regular Rolls
I bet there are a lot of folks out there with a closet full of toilet paper. :) If you are not one of them then pick up 18 rolls for $20 on Amazon. This is about $3 more expensive than Walmart but if you buy from Amazon I will make about twenty cents. You would not want to deny me twenty cents, would you? As an added bonus, all the patterns in my catalog are free for the next two days if you buy this toilet paper. That is going to be hard to pass up.
