I received a reply from the winner of the Bear Woods sponsored giveaway today. Tim Muir said it was a great surprise to win. He plans to put the $75 gift certificate to good use and stock up on goodies. Tim is an Associate professor in the Biology department at Augustana College. Tim has been woodworking for 4 years but just got into using the scroll saw a couple of years ago. He says the scroll saw has really opened up some "cool possibilities" for him. Recently he has made compound cut jewelry, ornaments and lot's of toys. Congratulations Tim.

We will start another giveaway very soon so keep your eyes open.

Everybody loves snakes. Okay, maybe not everybody but I do. I have owned several snakes in my life. Right up until I got married. For some reason Patty did not share my willingness to co-mingle with boa constrictors, garter snakes, piranha, mice and other non-traditional pets. This pattern might fulfill my nostalgia.

Our current little girl Holly, is celebrating her 4th Birthday today. She had a great day. The weather was nice so we spent much of the day outside with her favorite things. Ball, toy to shred with a squeaker and a Happy Birthday doggie treat from the Barkery.  Her tail was going crazy.

Voting for the Woodworkers Guild of America Blogger Awards ends today as I write this post. November 1st 2016. Voting is still open at this minute so if you read this in time and have not voted it would be appreciated.

The winners will be announced on November 7th. I have to tell you that I would be excited if I were to win. Mostly because anything that brings exposure to scroll sawing helps our community. I am however one of the smallest sites of the entrants in my category. If they rally their followers I don't have much of a chance but I can always hope. Keep your fingers crossed for me/us.

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
