Knock Down 4 X 6 Desk Picture Frame Scroll Saw Pattern.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
It's a little difficult to see in the picture above but the photo is covered by acrylic. The photo is trapped between the acrylic and the wood frame. If you get the slots and tabs tight enough the friction is all that is needed to hold the frame together and the photo captured.

I included a backer for a portrait 4 X 6 photo and a landscape 4 X 6 photo.

If you are sure you never want to change the photo you can glue everything together.
Sandwich the acrylic and wood together so you can stack cut them. This helps make sure the fit is precise. I used .093" thick acrylic from Home Depot. The slots in the sides are designed for that thickness of acrylic and 1/4" thick backer board. If you use a different thickness then adjust the slot to accommodate for a tight fit.
I find that cutting acrylic goes smoother when I use a smaller blade. I used a #3 reverse tooth blade to stack cut the wood and acrylic stack.

Scott Phillips from The American Woodshop TV series talks about the King Scroll saw.

Scott has done a few shows making scroll saw projects over the years. He did one years ago with Patrick Spielman that was exceptional. Patrick was a legend in the scrolling community and it was nice to see Scott give him the exposure.

You can watch several episodes of the American Woodshop at this link. Scott is in his 24th season. I think they have ten season online. Scott Phillips The American Woodshop.

Here is a link to an episode where he does scroll saw projects.
Scott Phillips Scroll Saw Episode

Scott often makes short videos for Woodcraft. This video shows the 16" King scroll saw now being sold at Woodcraft. It's a short video and just introduces the product. You might find it interesting.

I have always enjoyed Scott. His personality is great and he keeps most of his shows projects withing reach of the average woodworker.

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
