Turn it Off Sign Scroll Saw Pattern.

Smart phones are amazing pieces of technology. The good news is that almost everyone has one. The bad news is that almost everyone has one. There are times and places where smartphones should not be seen or heard. I am certainly no one to lecture. I carry my iPhone everywhere I go. I do turn it off in movies and meetings. I am guilty of reading it in a restaurant. I need to work on that.

Sanding Twigs:

I saw these Sanding Twigs mentioned over on Hector Garcia's Facebook Group(Scroll Saw and Wood Projects). By the way if you are not already a member over there make sure you sign up. It's a very active group.

I am always looking for other sanding options for my scroll saw work so I ordered a set. For $15.99 I received five packs of 20 Sanding Twigs. Each pack has an assortment of different grits. They are color coded but for some reason they don't give you a chart of which color is which grit.

I don't think that knowing the grit is all that important for the way these will be used. These are going to be used to get into small fretwork areas where other sanding options just won't fit. It's not like you are going to go through a series of grits to get to a perfect finish.
This is a side view of the twigs. The sand paper is laminated on to a spongy like substrate. This gives the twigs just a little give so they will conform slightly to the surface being sanded. They also cut down easily so you can add a point or just shorten the twigs.

The twigs are two sided and appear to have a different grit on each side. It feels like an 80 on one side and 120 on the other for the red twigs but that's a guess.
The applied sand paper seems to be decent quality. I gave them a pretty good test and the paper held up well even with aggressive use. I can see using the same stick several times before it will be used up.

The twigs are also pretty flexible. I'm not sure if that is all that useful but it did seem to make them less likely to break in use.

Over all I think these are a nice addition to my sanding station. For the price I think they are a good deal because these five packs are going to last me a long time.
As some of you know I work on the blog over night. Right now it is 4:55 AM as you can see in the  snapshot from my security camera. We got our first snowfall of the season and it's a decent amount for us here in Kentucky. It look like we have 3 or 4 inches. That will probably close all the local schools and make the kids happy.

It is currently 19 degrees and we were at 60 early yesterday. When the cold front came through the temperature dropped like 40 degrees in an hour or two. I suspect there is ice under that snow because it rained right before the temps dropped.

There was a time when this weather would bum me out. Before I retired I had to travel a lot and I hated bad roads. Now I just peek outside and enjoy the snow.
