One request I received for the "I Love My" Dog Breed was for a Papillon. This was a tough one but one I wanted to do the best I could with. It was for someone who has a special attachment to her little dog. I did not get him as soft as I would have liked but I had to make the pattern so it could be cut in wood. There is no way to make it as cute as the real thing but I hope you enjoy it just the same.
The Atlanta Woodworking Show: Hope to see you there.
Wow time has flown by. It does not feel like a year has passed since I was at the last Woodworking show in Atlanta. Well it has been a year and I am getting ready to spend a couple days visiting with woodworkers from all over the contry at the Cobb Galleria on the 17th and 18th of this month.
I will not be there on Friday. I will be a guest of the Gwinnett Woodworkers Association on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th, 2018. I look forward to meeting you if you have the opportunity to visit the show. I will be located in the Gwinnett Woodworkers booth.
MLCS 9080 Billy Pedal Foot Switch, Deadman Style
Affiliate link: Purchase on Amazon
I received an email yesterday asking about foot switches for use on the scroll saw. I have used a foot switch on every scroll saw I have used since the second saw I purchased over 30 years ago.
The foot switch is the first accessory I get for a new machine. I get the foot swithc before I even worry about a light.
There are two different styles of foot swithces.
The "on/off" style turns the motor on when you click it. You can then take your foot off the switch and the motor wil keep running. You have to click the switch again to turn ot off.
The "Dead man" style requires you to keep your foot on the switch for the motor to run. As soon as you lift your foot the motor stops.
I have seen people use the "on/off" style of swithc but I recommend the Deadman style for complete control.
The foot switch is for safety and convience purposes. When the blade catches in the wood and starts bouncing up and down it is very helpful to be able to lift your foot off the switch and have the motor stop.
The foot switch adds convience and increases the speed that you can move from one entry hole to the next during a long cutting session. When I'm in the zone I will often have my finger on the thumb screw, ready to loose the blade for the next cut almost before the saw has stopped moving. The foot switch just minimizes the amout of movement I have to do. Even when I'm not in a hurry I appreciate the efficiency.
