Gather together and give Thanks Scroll Saw Pattern.

13.5" X 8.5" Thanksgiving Art

We are getting closer to the holidays. Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away. This is an exciting time of year for crafters. This is the time of the year that we most often get to share our work.

Giving someone a gift that we take time to craft with our hands is very rewarding. It says that we appreciate the person receiving the gift enough to take the time and effort to do something special for them.

I encourage you to make a list of people who you would like to give a gift of your talent. Most people will understand just how thoughtful the gift is and reward you with a smile. Those smiles are just about the best payment you can get for your time.

Easy DIY Motorized Drill Press Table Lift:

The title says it all. I broke the hand crank off of my drill press and needed to fix it. I ordered a new hand crank but in the meantime, I thought I would work on a motorized drill press table lift.

I kept is just about as simple as a motorized table lift can get but it work great. Watch the video to see how I did it.

In the subject type "2018 Scroll Saw Challenge"

Let me stand up on my soapbox for just a minute. The hobby of scroll sawing is a niche. Our numbers are low compared to some other wood crafting hobbies. We have lost many of our yearly get-togethers. We have lost publications that cover the hobby and it's difficult to get manufacturers to want to build and sell products we need/want.

These truths are probably not going to turn around. Young people looking for hobbies today have so many choices. There are new maker hobbies that include 3D printing, CNC and laser machines that are taking many of our future scrollers in other directions. Just visit any of the maker spaces that are springing up around the country for proof. Very few of them have scroll saws. They all have 3d printers.

I totally understand this trend. New things are cool. I like cool also.

What I would like to see are the folks who are passionate about our scroll saw hobby help it be the best it can be. This includes supporting the companies who support our hobby. It includes supporting people who are trying to make the hobby a better community.

Russ, over at Simply Wooden Creations is one of those people who is trying to add to the hobby. He puts in many hours a week to add content to our community. Almost everything he does is free. He is passionate about the hobby and just wants to make it better and have a little fun along the way.

I would like to ask that you consider supporting Russ and if possible enter the contest. There is no obligation and your information will not be used for anything other than to select and contact the winner.

When you win the $100 gift certificate or the $50 gift certificate or one of the four $25 gift certificates or other great prizes available in the contest you can know that you helped support the hobby.  Now go to your shop and take three pictures.

Brother Compact Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-L2350DW, Wireless Printing, Duplex Two-Sided Printing, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled  $99.98

This is the printer I use for printing all my scroll saw patterns. 99% of the time I do not need color. It is just a waste of money so I use this to print most of the stuff I print. I get over 2,000 prints on a cartridge which lasts me most of the year. I print a lot testing my patterns. If I did that on an inkjet printer I would go broke. I do have a nice color inkjet printer also for when I need it but for me, the Monochrome laser printer is the way to go.

  • COMPACT BUT HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE – Perfectly sized to fit on smaller desks or in tight spaces, the Brother Compact Laser Printer is the perfect solution for the busy home or small office
  • OPTIMIZED FOR EFFICIENCY – Packed with new features, the HL-L2350DW (replacement for the HLL2340DW) is optimized for efficiency, allowing you to print up to 32 pages per minute, making it a class leader(1)
  • FASTER, HIGH-QUALITY PRINTS – This Brother compact laser printer is built with a 250-sheet paper capacity that helps improve efficiency due to less time spent refilling trays. It also handles both letter and legal-sized paper
  • DUPLEX PRINTING – Printing on both sides is easy with automatic duplex (two-sided) printing. Using Brother Genuine high-yield replacement cartridges (TN-760) delivers up to twice the print volume at lower costs(3)
  • WIRELESS PRINTING & EXCEPTIONAL SUPPORT – The easy-to-link wireless technology allows you to submit print jobs from your laptop, smartphone, desktop, and tablets(2). We provide free online, call, or live chat support for the life of your printer. At Brother, we want to ensure that your experience with us is exceptional

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
