Do your grandchildren want to come out to your shop and give you a hand? Put them to work with their own tools and tool box.
This little toolbox is 9.5" long and 6.25" tall. All the parts are 1/4" thick. It is simple to cut and assemble. Remember to sand everything well to knock off the hard edges and round over all the corners.
I won't try to tell you what the age appropriate child would be for this toolset but I would think once they are past putting everything in their mouth it would be okay. Some adult supervision might be appropriate for small children.

More Tragic News for the Start of 2019: A word of Caution....
Mick Shambro
I received word today that a local scroll saw artist and acquaintance of mine. Mick Shambro passed away. I never got to know Mick very well but we crossed paths several times and shared talk about our art.
Mick passed away from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis(IPF). I am mentioning this for a reason. IPF may be caused by environmental pollutants including possibly wood dust. There is some concern that Mick's illness may have been attributed to years of exposure to the dust he worked around every day.
There is no hard evidence of this but it is a working theory.
Mick's friend and fellow scroll sawyer Kenneth C. suggested that I mention Mick's passing and use the tragedy to possibly help prevent others from heading down the same path.
Wear a dust mask. There is no good reason to not take the precaution and protect your lungs. They are cheap and easily available. I have reviewed a few here on the blog so let me know if you need help finding one you like. The more comfortable the mask is the more likely you are to use it.
If you can afford one, buy an air filtration system. You can find them on Amazon. The WEN unit works well and is affordable.
If you can't afford a commercial air filtration unit then a filter on a box fan can work pretty well also.
Dust extraction at the source and also be beneficial. There are a few options available for dust extraction on the scroll saw. Again let me know if you need information.
Please take some time to consider your health. If you do not wear a mask, there is no time like now to start.

I have recently been cutting aluminum in my shop. I cut the large sheets down to size on my table saw. This throws aluminum pieces all over the place. It is a very dangerous procedure without eye protection. I had some cheap goggles but they were all scratched up and fogged up easily. They were also extremely uncomfortable to wear.
Once again, Santa brought me a tool that I love. The DeWalt DPG82 goggles are comfortable. They are anti-fog. The lens is crystal clear and is coated to help prevent scratches. My other goggles are scratched to the point of being useless. Just in case you do get the DeWalt goggles scratched up the lens is replaceable.
One of my favorite features is the soft face seal. The seal makes wearing the goggles more comfortable than any I have used before. Uncomfortable goggles are much more likely to sit on the shelf unused. I don't mind wearing these and that is important.
If you need a pair of safety goggles for the shop, yard work or other hazardous environments then I can highly recommend the DeWalt DPG82 goggles.
