This Cowboy welcome sign is almost eleven inches tall.
I have 55 more USB Catalog drives ready to ship:
Keep an eye out for your invoice if you have an order in for the USB Catalog. I will be sending out invoices Saturday night and Sunday morning. Check your spam folder if you don't see the invoice. If you don't get an invoice on this shipment you will on the next round.
I will still have several orders to complete when the next shipment of drives is delivered to me. That shipment should complete all the remaining orders. I am hoping to turn order taking back on early next week. I currently have five computers running a few hours a day to get the data on the drives.
Once this initial push is over I should be able to stay caught up on orders. Even at this rate I am under a week getting an order out. Thanks for your patience.
Spiral Blade Tip:
I don't remember if I have passed this tip on before. I receive many emails a year asking how to prevent spiral blades from slipping out of the clamps. This is especially a problem on entry-level scroll saws and any saw with worn clamps.
The most effective slipping prevention is to buy flat end spiral blades. These blades, as the name implies, have the last inch of the blade flat. This greatly improves the grip of the clamp on the blade.
I don't see any reason to use the old style blade. The flat end blades are superior.
Another problem I see when someone tells me they cannot keep their spiral blade in the clamp is how they are being used. I get beat up every time I mention this but here goes. Spiral blades are specialty blades. They are not for general fretwork in thicker woods. If you use the typical spiral blade and try to cut a 1" thick hardwood you will likely experience slipping.
I would not even recommend the flat end spirals for cutting thick wood. The spiral blades do not remove the sawdust from the kerf fast enough to be effective in the thick wood.
Understand that a flat end spiral blade will not always be completely flat. That is normal so don't be confused when you see this.
Self Healing Mat for cutting down scroll saw patterns:

This is not a critical accessory to have but I find it helpful. When I get ready to glue my pattern to the wood I often cut the pattern down to the size that fits the board. If I have a part of the pattern that needs to be perfectly flat on one edge I will glue that edge of the pattern to the edge of the board. That way I don't have to cut that edge flat on the scroll saw.
To cut the pattern on the flat edge I use an Exacto knife, straight edge and the self-healing cutting mat to get a perfect cut. You can do it with scissors but the tools above are faster and more accurate.
The problem is that these self-healing mats are expensive if you look for them in your local craft store. I see them in fabric stores selling for $40. The link above is for a large 18" X 24" mat. This is the one I use and it costs under $20 on Amazon.
Before you try to steal the one out of your wife's sewing room go ahead and buy one for the shop.

$20 plus shipping
For those of you who have been waiting for the update, it is now available to order.
For those of you who are new here are the details.
Every year in January I compile all the scroll saw patterns that I have designed and put them on a DVD. The DVD includes every pattern from 2007-present. Currently, that is over 2,600 patterns.
Why should you buy the DVD? These are the same patterns that are in my free online catalog. You do not have to buy the DVD to have access to the patterns.
The DVD is produced because so many people asked for it. People want to have the patterns available locally. In some cases, they want the patterns for their club library. Others like the ease of searching the patterns on their local computer. Many people buy the DVD just to support what I do.
The #1 reason I have been told that the DVD catalog is needed is that they fear I will go offline and all the pattern will be gone forever.
Whatever your reason I truly appreciate you purchasing the DVD. The sales from this product go a long way to support what I do here on the blog.
