Congratulations to the Clemson Tigers for one of the most incredible championship games in the history of college football.
I knew, going into the game that we had the two best teams in the country playing for the championship. I thought that Alabama was a little better team. I saw a few cracks in the armor late in the season for Alabama but I still thought they had enough to win the game. I am a little biased because I live in SEC country.
Clemson just dominated this game. They looked like the superior team from the outset. They made outstanding plays look easy. You just have to take your hat off to them and say great game. Very impressive. 15 and 0 national champs.
This pattern is for you Clemson Tigers fans who want something to remember this incredible night of college football.
Super Simple Hour Counter for your Scroll Saw:
I had a tip from a reader the other day that I thought was worth sharing. It is interesting to track the hours you spend cutting a project. Sometimes it is even necessary to calculate the price you should charge for a product.
Back in April of 2017 I did a project to add an hour counter to your saw. Here is the link to that project. It works well and is probably better than this solution but this could be free. If you have an old AC powered alarm clock gathering dust in the attic dig it out. Watch the video to see how to set it up to count the hours you spend cutting a project.
Resawing Corian:
I received several replies today about sourcing Corian. All of them suggested contacting a local cabinet installer and asking for their cut-offs. Some said they were able to buy the cut-offs cheaply while others were able to pick through the scraps for free.
I have had this recommendation many times in the past and it is a good suggestion except they rarely have thin sheets of Corian. Cabinet installers use thick material.
Then I had a replay from Lavaun Ward with a suggestion I have never tried. Resawing Corian. I had always assumed the heat from the blade would just fuse the plastic but like many assumptions that was wrong.
I had several sheets of 1/2" thick Corian so I decided to test it out.
I keep a resaw blade in my band saw so it was ready to go. Notice that I forgot to lower the guard. I would have had an easier cut if I had remembered that detail.
Other than poor tracking because of the guard the cat was easy. I had no trouble with fusing. It did make a mess but that is to be expected. Make sure you are wearing to dust mask.
The blade marks were easily sanded out for a nice smooth finish with a random orbit sander.
The uniformity of the thickness was surprisingly good for free-hand cutting. I now have a sheet of 1/8" thick Corian that would be nearly impossible to find. Thanks for the tip LaVaun.
$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
AA Battery to AC Converter:
If you make a clock from the clock movements that require an AA battery, you may be interested in this product. It simply replaces the AA battery with a dummy battery that is AC powered.
Batteries are wonderful devices but not as reliable as AC power. I use this adapter when I make a nice clock to give it added appeal. The adapter is not cheap so you probably won't use it on every project but for that special clock, I think it is a nice addition.
Battery powered clock movement.
