I used Krylon Gold Spray paint to add a little interest to this 3D model. You may prefer to leave it unpainted.
The model is cut from 1/4" Baltic birch plywood. The base is 1/2" BB ply.
Looking at the pictures below you can see the different looks you can get by eliminating parts of the model.
Dispose of oily rags safely:
Every year I receive email from one of my readers that they have had a tragic fire in their workshop. I have already had two reports of fires this year. One was a house fire and the other was a workshop fire.
The report I received of the workshop fire was not conclusive about the cause when was told about it. The suspect at the time was electrical but there were also stain soaked rags in the shop.
The next time you go in your shop take a few minutes to do a safety check. Inspect all your electrical connections. I found a potential fire hazard in my shop recently. I had a power strip that was failing and the edges of the outlets had turned brown from heat. The power strip was overloaded drawing too much current.
I have also been guilty of not disposing of oily rags safely. I found the steel safety can above on Amazon. I am going to order one and stop my poor safety habit of putting the rags in the trash.
While you are on the safety check you might consider looking over the shop for tripping hazards. Missing safety guards. improperly stored chemicals. Make sure your safety gear is functional and readily available.(eye protection, dust mask, and fire extinguisher).
One safety issue that I see abused often is improper foot wear. Wearing sandals in the work shop may be comfortable but it is far from safe. Steel toed shoe are best but at the very least wear shoes that cover you feet.
The few minutes you spend checking and resolving safety issues is more than worth the time. I know of woodworkers who had fires and just gave up the hobby because the damage was too great.
I feel lucky that I have never received an email telling me about the tragic loss of life because of a shop fire. I never want to get that email. Let's all do our best to keep our shop a safe and fun place to be.
