Artistry in Wood Show this Weekend:

Don't forget that the Artistry in Wood show is this weekend. Oct 12 and 13, 2019. That is Saturday and Sunday at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington Ohio. 10am to 6pm and 10am to 5pm.

If you are in the area or are traveling to the show please stop by the Bear Woods and Grobet USA booth and say hello. I will be there both days. They will have the Pegas scroll saw and the Pegas Scroll Band Saw there with demonstrations.

Hope to see you there.

Pegas Scroll Band Saw 1st Look:

I have had the opportunity to have a review unit of the Pegas Scroll Band Saw in my shop for a few days. In this video, I am going to give you a taste of what it can do. I do not have much skill built up with the tool so I don't want to call this a review.

This Pegas band saw is unique because it uses blades as small as scroll saw blades. Most band saws will only go down to 1/8" blades. The Pegas Scroll Band Saw goes down to blades as small as a scroll saw #5 size blade. The largest blade it accepts is a 1/8".

I can see this band saw being popular for woodcarving blanks, band saw boxes, 3D puzzles, and many woodcraft projects. Like any skill tool, the Pegas Scroll Band Saw does take some practice.

In the video, I will show you my successes and struggles so you can get an idea of what to expect. I only have a couple hours of cutting on the saw and my skill was quickly improving. When I cut 3/4" to 1.5" thick boards my accuracy was nearly as good as the scroll saw. I cut a blank the was nearly five inches thick and I struggled with tight turns. On subtle turns it did great.

The project I show here is a 3" X 3" X 8" blank and I am cutting a compound cut ornament. It does not come out perfect and I do make a few mistakes but I can see the potential as my skill improves.

This ornament is just a test project. I did not spend much time with the pattern design but it turned out kind of neat.

I will warn you that the video gets a bit long as I make the cut. I wanted to show as much as possible so you could see the performance. When I cut the second side of the ornament I speed the video up.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
