This is another planter box. There are two versions of this pattern included. One for 1/4" thick plywood and one for 1/2" thick plywood. I originally planned to do it in 1/2" plywood but I realized I did not have any. It is strange for me to not have what I need but this lockdown has me all messed up. My suggestion is to use the 1/2" for a sturdier box. Especially for outside use.
I painted the swan white and gave it a couple coats of spray acrylic.
This is not a large planter box. The box is itself is eight inches long. If you would like to make a large planter from this pattern you could print the 1/4" thick pattern at 200%. You would then have a large 16" long box that could be built with 1/2" thick plywood.
Using Inkscape to add text to yesterday's candle dome pattern: Tutorial.
Watch the Video
Let me apologize upfront. This video tutorial is complicated with many steps. I don't use this program very often so there may be some steps that could be simplified. It does work.
Yesterday, I posted a pattern or a Dome candle cover with text on top. (Seen below). If you missed that pattern you can download it by clicking the photo below. The pattern had a large number of downloads and interest.
I had a few email requests to change the text on top or show how it could be done. The above video tutorial shows how to add text to that pattern using the free vector graphics program named Inkscape.
The tutorial will also give you the basics to add text to any curve. This technique is very handy when designing scroll saw patterns.

I am not a full-time Inkscape user. I use CorelDraw for all my pattern designs. The reason I am using Inkscape to do this tutorial is that Inkscape is free. Inkscape is also available for Windows PC, MAC, and Linux. The video shows a lot of steps and is confusing. The technique will get the job done but you will find it easier if you already have experience with Inkscape.
