This is another pattern that I designed for a reader with a laser cutter. It works just as well for the scroll saw so I am publishing it. It is cut from 1/8" thick Baltic birch plywood. That makes it easy on the laser cutter and allows scrollers to stack cut more than one at a time. It also makes the dispenser very light.
There is almost always more than one technique that works.
The scroll saw hobby has been around for many years. People have spent those years coming up with different techniques to complete a scroll saw project. I have not run into any scroll saw genius that knows the only/best way to accomplish a task. There are many ways to do almost every step of the process.
When you read a book, watch a YouTube video, or read a scroll saw forum, you will see people discuss the way they do something. I have hundreds of videos on YouTube discussing the way I complete a scroll saw project. Those are just the way I like to do things.
I get quite a few emails telling me that the viewer does not like the way I do a technique. They say they can show me a better way. I love that. I have learned more from other scrollers than any other resource. Sometimes I like their technique and sometimes I don't but I always try to hear them out.
The way I do every step of a scroll saw project has changed over the years. Everything from applying a pattern to the wood to what blade I use has changed many times.
What I am trying to get across here is this. Try different techniques as you come across them. Don't get stuck in your ways. There are some techniques that I do religiously. I know other accomplished scrollers who think my way does not work for them. Who is right? Both of us are right. Do what works and be willing to try new things.
