It has been a while since I designed a pattern for the cat lovers out there. I think this one turned out pretty cute.
I included a small pattern and a large pattern. The small cats are about 6" tall and a couple of the interior cuts are pretty small and difficult to cut. I cut the small pattern above just to make sure it was not too difficult. The eyes on the female cat are pretty tough so I enlarged the cats to 8" tall so it will be easier. You can choose which works better for you.
This pattern would be fine without the base. If you cut the cats from 3/4" thick wood they will stand on their own. You will have to remove the tabs on the bottom of the pattern.
Sanding mop on a low-speed grinder in my shop.
This is not an ad. The link is not an affiliate link. This is where I buy my mops. Klingspore is a very well-respected supplier of abrasive material. Their sanding mops have worked very well for me and I use them every time I am in my shop.
Don't confuse the sanding stars or Mac mops with sanding mops. You need the ones that look like the picture below The stars are too stiff. The sanding mops are gentle and great for removing tear-out and slightly easing the edges of a project. I have even used them to round over intarsia pieces. They are definitely not ideal for that process but if you need something very gentle these work.
I have used the 1" X 4" and the 2" X 6" mops. For what I do both are fine and of course the 4" mops are less expensive. They obviously won't last as long as the 6" mops.
You need a mandrel to hold the mops. Klingspore sells the mandrels and a kit with everything needed. After you buy the mandrel you can refill the mops once they wear out. Mine seem to last about six months with pretty heavy use. I use the 120 grit mops.
You also need a tool to install the mandrel into some tool that will spin the mop. A band saw will work but I prefer the variable speed grinder. The mops are rated at 3000 rpms so a single-speed grinder will turn too fast. I use the Delta variable speed grinder that runs from 2000 to 3400 RPMs. I turn it to 2000 RPM. If I remember correctly I bout the grinder at Lowes. Any variable speed grinder should work fine.

WEN 3962T 3.5-Amp 10-Inch Two-Speed Band Saw with Stand and Worklight
This is the new 2021 version of the WEN 3962T Band Saw. It has a 6" resaw capacity. I would expect that to be a tough job for this band saw. You will likely have to buy a better blade and use a slow feed rate. That is pretty common on these 10" band saws. The Amazon reviews are pretty good. At $322.32 this looks like a pretty good buy.
