Boring Personal Stuff:
Patty and I went back to Lexington yesterday for the closing on the house we sold. We had a deadline for when the house would close to avoid a large tax burden. We were happy that the mortgage company for the buyer did a fast job getting the paperwork completed. If you have dealt with any mortgage companies lately you know that they are pretty busy.
We arrived at the office and were sitting in the waiting room when the realtor for the buyer came in. He did not know who we were and he walked up to the receptionist and told her there was a problem at the bank. His client was trying to work out a last-minute problem. He was not sure it was going to happen. My heart dropped a little.
Luckily the buyer agreed to write a check for the difference to the mortgage company and they sent the paperwork over. After this scary start, things went smooth and we were out of there in 25 minutes. It was nice to have that part of the move over with.
We are moving slow on getting the new house set up. We do a little each day but it will take a while. My biggest issue is getting my shop set up the way I want. The shop is in an unfinished basement. I have some concrete walls and some stud walls. The concrete does not bother me but I really want to cover the open stud walls. I'm still deciding on what material I want to use for the walls. I am leaning toward plywood so I have solid material for installing cabinets etc.
The builder knew I was going to use the unfinished side of the basement for a shop so he installed AC/Heat vents. That is a big advantage.
I have had several people ask for a shop tour video. I will probably do one eventually but it is way too soon. It is not all that impressive anyway. Right now it is just an unfinished basement with a bunch of tools.
