This fretwork box is a little over 8" long. The parts are 1/4" thick. It has interior wall panels so you can't see through the fretwork. The pattern calls for 1/8" thick interior walls but you can use 1/4" if that is all you have. You will need to adjust the front and back interior wall length if you use 1/4".
In this video, Bob cuts my weave box pattern. He does a nice job of explaining and demonstrating his technique. The video is a bit over 25 minutes. This is a pretty easy pattern to cut so if you are a beginner this might be a project to try.
After you watch the video please click the thumbs-up button under the video and subscribe to his channel. It would also be nice if you could leave Bob a comment encouraging him to do more videos.
Here is an added bonus for you. Bob is also a guitar player and songwriter. He wrote a song that woodworkers will enjoy. It is titled Dream Shop. The lyrics are below the video if you want to sing along. 🎸 Nice job Bob.
Lyrics
Dream Shop
To the tune of The Times They Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan
Come gather 'round woodworkers, near and afar
And I'll sing of our craft as I play my guitar.
We work in our spaces whenever we can,
Where we build our projects and take time to plan
For the day we can have everything that we want
When we're there working in our own dream shop.
There is ample space, there is plenty of light,
Every tool you desire is within your sight.
The temperature's not too hot or too cold,
There is not a trace of rust, dust, or mold.
There is never a want, you have all that you need
As you work there in your new dream shop.
Every board is pristine, there is no twist or cup,
Your supply of hardwoods is never used up.
There are no knots, no twists, and no crook,
They look like a picture in a textbook.
The grain is beautiful, the color is great,
When you're there working in your own dream shop.
The humidity's perfect, not too wet or dry,
Every joint fits perfectly on the first try.
The glue stays open just as long as you need,
And when you're ready it bonds instantly.
Everything you make turns out perfectly
When you make it in your own dream shop.
