This is a pretty simple pattern that is 4 four layers thick. The small pattern is just under 6" tall and can sit on a shelf or table. The larger pattern is 10.25" tall and can be hung on a wall. This project will probably look better with paint. I think these types of projects look better with a wash of color so the wood grain shows through.
Artisan Pirate discusses using his lase as an accessory for his scroll saw work.
I have talked before about the usefulness of using a laser engraver with our scroll saws. They really are a great combination. The inexpensive diode lasers can not cut very thick material but they engrave great. You can cut the wood on your scroll saw and personalize it with the laser.
In this video from Tyler, he uses the laser to engrave the pattern in the wood. It took the laser a couple of minutes to engrave the pattern on the wood. You also do not need to use paper, spray adhesive, tape, or printer ink.
You will note in the video that Tyler uses Lightburn with his laser. I only recommend laser engravers that are compatible with Lightburn. That is usually an extra expense but the software is so powerful that I consider it a must-have.
After you watch the video remember to hit the thumbs-up button and subscribe.
The link below is the xTool D1 Pro 5W laser. It is currently priced at $339.99 and supports Lightburn(not included). This is a well-constructed laser. I own their higher-wattage laser and it works great. This laser will not cut thicker material but for engraving personalizations on scroll saw projects it is a good fit. If you have any interest in laser engraving then this would be a good starter laser.
Papa's Workshop Giveaway
For those of you who do not have a DeWalt DW788 of a Delta 40-690 I will do a separate giveaway next week so you won't be left out.
Entries are accepted until 3/24/2023 at midnight Eastern time.
Frank from Papa's Workshop wants to do a giveaway. He has sold thousands of the Lifters to satisfied DeWalt DW788 and Delta 40-690 scroll saw users.
The DeWalt DW788 is a wonderful saw with one minor inconvenience. The upper arm does not stay in the up position without assistance. Some users will tighten the left side screw to force the arm to stay up. DeWalt does not recommend this practice.
The Lifter solves the problem with an easy-to-install latch. Take a look at The Lifter on Amazon. 96% of the reviewers gave it a 4 or 5-star review.
