This pattern is fairly easy to cut but not easy to assemble. I used CA glue for the 50% size laser test cut for a quick set. Make sure you read the notes in the pattern.
The cat pattern comes in two sizes. The small pattern is a little over 4" tall and the large pattern is a little over 8" tall. This is another one of these scrap wood patterns that will be easy and fast to cut.
Let me speak about the laser test cuts I make for a minute. I know that many of you are not fans of lasers. I get quite a few emails telling me they don't like it when I speak about lasers on the blog. Here are the hard cold facts. Without my lasers, I would not still be writing the blog. I produce at least one new pattern every day. Having the supplies on hand to test cut that many patterns would be extremely expensive at today's prices. Time is also a huge factor. I spend about 8 hours a day working on the blog. That is without doing any test cuts of the patterns. If I were test cutting, that would add about another two or three hours. The lasers prevent both of those issues. I enjoy cutting on the scroll saws but I enjoy writing the blog even more.
I am not trying to shift my patterns from scroll saw patterns to laser patterns. I never will because the laser community is much different than the scroll saw community. The demographics of the laser community are very different. I run the blog almost totally on donations. The scroll saw folks are very generous. I know this is a generalization but the laser community is not that way. My donations from the laser community are almost nonexistent. The amount of pattern theft is much higher in the laser community. All of my free patterns are being sold by overseas entities and I cannot control that. I'll stick with all of you kind scroll saw folks any day.
Sorry for the semi-rant but I had two somewhat harsh emails this week telling me that I was a sell-out so they unsubscribed from the blog. I do understand their feelings because the scroll saw community does not get the respect it deserves. I hope this explanation explains my thoughts on this and helps some people understand why I use lasers.
