When I was young, my grandfather lived with us for a few years. He loved Louis L'Amour's Western books and other Wild West cowboy authors. He would sit on the couch and read for hours. He also loved the television show Gunsmoke. We had to be quiet or go to the other room when that show came on.
The famous outlaw Jesse James had an older brother named Frank. My grandfather told the story that when he was a young man, he attended Frank James's funeral, which was in 1915. I guess he had an early fascination with the Western stories that he loved in later years.
Patty and I really enjoy the new series named Yellowstone. It is about a modern-day Western family in Montana. They are ranchers who battle encroachment on their land. It stared Kevin but he left the show for this season. I guess the show will end after this season. If you can catch a replay it is worth the effort.
