The layered Motorcycle pattern is a little over 8.5" wide and calls for 1/4" and 3/4" thick wood.
The Senior Love pattern is 9.5" tall and is three layers of 1/4" thick wood.
I made it in to see my orthopedic doctor yesterday.
Several weeks ago, I woke with a sore ankle. At my age, things just hurt sometimes, so I was not too concerned. After a couple of visits to my general doctor and an X-ray that showed a fracture in the ankle, I made an appointment with an orthopedic doctor.
I had not seen the X-ray, but the ortho office had it sent to them. I was expecting a minor fracture because the pain was not terrible. I was shocked when they showed me the X-ray and said I might be heading to surgery that day. The only thing that saved me from surgery was that when they did more X-rays, the bone had not moved. He said if it had moved, he would have had no choice but to have surgery scheduled. From the time of the first X-ray to these new X-rays, the fracture has widened close to 1/4". and it was a little short of 2" long. The bone that is broken is the tibia. It is broken across the point that sticks out on the inside of the ankle.
Here is the crazy thing. I have no idea how I broke it. I don't remember any falls or missteps. The ortho doctor said that was strange because a break this bad should have caused considerable pain. They would not even let me walk back to get the new X-rays. They had to wheel me back.
The end result is this boot that I have to wear for a minimum of three weeks, More than likely, longer. I have also been told not to drive or go up and down my stairs. In other words, stay off my feet and in a chair.
To make what should be a short story even longer, this might cause delays in blog posts. About 80% of my work day is in front of the computer, so that helps because I can do that. We will see how it goes.
