I tried to not have any small interior cuts so pin-end blade users can cut this Santa Sleigh. I was able to limit the interior cuts to two, and a 1/4" drill bit will drill the entry hole for the blade. The length of the project is nearly 15" long. You can add more reindeer and go very large. If you added all nine of Santa's reindeer and doubled them up, the project would be around 40" long.
The pattern calls for 1/4" and 3/4" thick wood.
The Smile It Confuses People Pattern is 10.25" wide and cut from two 1/4" thick layers.
TIP: I know this sounds crazy, but my brother used to have a pin-end scroll saw. He would take a pair of pliers and pull the pin out of the blade when he had a small interior cut. After he threaded the blade through the wood, he reinserted the pin and clamped the blade, then made the cut. The blade often has to be replaced after this technique, but when desperate, it works.
