This is not designed for a small child. This is a display crib. It will hold an eight-inch doll. It is designed to use 1/4" thick wood.
If you want it to be used by children I would make these recommendations. Scale it up 100% so you can use 1/2" thick wood. Then I would eliminate the four corner posts. If you make these changes it will be ~14" tall and hold a 14-inch doll.
The fretwork is cut into each end. I have included backer pieces to back up the fretwork so the interior of the crib is clean. This also helps stabilize the fretwork.
Announcing the Bear Woods November Giveaway Winners:
I want to thank Bear Woods for sponsoring this giveaway. Guys I have known Stephen, who is the owner of Bear Woods for over two years now. I can tell you without hesitation that he runs his business with integrity and respect for his customers. He also spends time and money to give back to the community. I have a business relationship with Stephen but I just call him a friend. Thanks Stephen for all you do.
For the month of November Bear Woods featured a charitable woodworker each day. These woodworkers from all over, spend their time and money helping the underprivileged. Bear Woods donated $50 to each of these folks and set up a system so you could donate also.

Incredible Organization of a Workshop:
I can't even organize my desk drawer as well as Timothy Wilmots organizes his workshop workflow. This video has nothing to do with the scroll saw but it is a remarkable video to inspire us. I know there are very few people who have the budget to build a workshop even approaching this shop but thinking about workflow is important even in a small shop. Maybe even more so.
