This Christmas Angel Nativity Scene is 14.5 inches long and over 8 inches tall. I would probably cut it from Baltic birch plywood.
I am showing it in the example with the backer board painted red. Keep in mind that when I simulate these cuttings I often just show them in high contrast colors so they are easier to see on the computer screen. Use your own judgment and creative sense to choose the materials you like.
You can also do what I call cutting edits. For example, in this pattern, you could easily cut away the nativity scene and just use the angel banner part of the pattern. Replace the Nativity scene with "From the Surname" and you have a nice personalized door decoration.
New Scroll Saw Shells from Steve Garrison:
Conical Spiral Shell made on the scroll saw by Steve Garrison
Steve has been selling directions for making beautiful shells on the scroll saw for years. He recently published a video showing his latest creations. Take a look at the video and if you think you would like to give them a try. Then visit Steve's web page to buy the pattern and directions.
These are really beautiful art pieces. The sanding and contouring will take some patience but I think it is not overly difficult. He does use a jig in the video that I would not consider the safest cut on the table saw but I don't think it is too dangerous that I would not do it. Just use caution if you give it a try. I think I would probably make the cut on a band saw but I would heve to experiment first.
Questions about patterns:
I get dozens of emails every week asking about a particular pattern I have in my catalog. Sometimes you want to know the font I used other times it is about how to do the cut. I am happy to try to help but I often need more information.
I have thousands of patterns. Some of them are over ten years old. I can't begin to remember them all. When you ask about a pattern I need the file name of the pattern so I can look it up easily. The filename is the name it is stored under in your computer.
When you don't know the filename it gets more difficult. If you are trying to find a pattern that you remember from my blog posts then I ask that you check my catalog before you ask me to send it to you. All the patterns from the blog are in the catalog. They are in categories and you can search by keyword. I will often not respond to request emails if you don't give enough information. I will get an email that says. "How big is the Christmas pattern?". That narrows it down to several hundred patterns. Please give complete information when asking for help.
