This Indy car model is 9.5" long. It is made with stacked layers of Baltic birch plywood. I used 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", and 3/4" thick BB ply. If you don't have all those thicknesses you can glue up 1/4" BB ply to get the 1/2" and 3/4" pieces.
The main body of the car is six layers of 1/4" thick BB ply. The only 1/8" thick pieces are the front and back wings.
I used 1/4" dowels for the axels. When you drill the holes it's best to use a 17/64" drill bit for the holes that go through the body and a 1/4" drill bit for the holes in the wheels. The 17/64" holes are just enough bigger to allow the axle to spin inside the body.
When you assemble the six body parts you can use the axels for alignment pins. This ensures the holes in the body all line up.
I did not make a great attempt at realism. It's closer to a toy than a model but I don't recommend that you make this for small children.
Scroll Saw Blade Storage Rack.
This is an old pattern that is already in the catalog but I have received several requests lately for blade storage ideas. This is what I use. It holds 16X150mm plastic test tubes. Here is the Amazon link for the tubes.
I find this size test tube good but some people like the larger tubes. You can find all kinds of tubes on Amazon. Check out this link.
When I but my blades I take the label and roll it up. I insert it into the tube. I find this easier than trying to write all the information on the tube.
Just make sure that the tubes are plastic when you look on Amazon. Also, double check that the ones you buy come with the lids. Some don't.
There are all kinds of blade storage ideas out there. Pinterest is a great source of ideas.
