I want the Scrollsaw Workshop to be a place where you can come and just enjoy our hobby. I try to stay away from subjects that bring the mood down. Today's pattern is obviously inspired by the tragic spread of the COVID 19 virus. I had a couple of requests for a sign that would highlight the need to was our hands.
One comment I had was that paper signs just tend to be ignored because we see so many of them. I designed this two-layer sign to hopefully stand out. I am showing the backer board painted red to help bring attention. I think the wood will be unique enough to get looks.
I kept the graphics simple so the message is what stands out. If you have a business where you need to protect your customers and employees then maybe this will help.
Make sure you check on anyone who may need a little extra help to get through this. Some folks are going to be very nervous. Children are not in the high-risk group but they are listening to what is going on. Talk to your children and make sure they are coping.
No person can predict what tomorrow will bring but it just makes sense to take precautions. The next several weeks will be eventful. We all hope that the impact is as minimal as possible.
I apologize for the subject of today's post.
A YouTube video I found from Tom Horsman:
I came across this video that Tom posted a few days ago. It sounds like he is just getting back into the hobby after several years and you can hear the fun in his voice. He picked up a DeWalt scroll saw and is off to the races.
This is Tom's first project on the DeWalt and he does an outstanding job. He is cutting very thick wood which is not easy and he does fine.
Tom is going through the learning curve of getting started on the scroll saw. After seeing his first project I think the curve will be pretty short for him.
Just to be clear. the kind things Tom says about me in the video had no impact on me including the video on the blog. That's my story and I am sticking to it. :)
Make sure you leave Tom a message of encouragement when you check out his video.
Here is the pattern that Tom cuts in the video.

If you use spray adhesive to attach your scroll saw patterns then you may want to give 3M 45 a try. It is a general-purpose glue that I find holds the pattern well without lifting. The main reason I use it is that it is one of the least expensive spray glues.
