Reminder: It is always safer to use an electric candle.
Both of these patterns are cut from 1/2" thick wood.
The candle lantern is over ten inches tall and the base is eight inches in diameter.
The Deck Owl can be used on your deck or any other place that works. This pattern calls for 1/2" thick wood but 1/4" will work fine.
Arcade Games
I understand that some of you are not interested in these games. Please just ignore them because they are something I really enjoy. Learning to use AI to assist in the process is something I am very interested in. These games are the output you are seeing but I am also using the AI to assist in working on the blog. The recent fix to the blog list was one example.
I added another game I created to the Arcade. This one is more difficult than it looks. You have probably seen the sliding puzzles where you slide the tiles into an empty space trying to get the numbers in sequence. That is what this emulates with a couple of extra features.
If you get stuck you can ask for a hint and the computer will make your next move. If you give up, hit the solve button and the computer will complete the puzzle.
I'll Geek out for a minute. The app was very entertaining to code. Getting the computer to solve the puzzle was difficult. The problem was that the code needed to solve the complete puzzle before it could make a hint or solve the puzzle visually. This was taking several minutes to complete so that was a non-starter. That is when the AI started to teach me about code heuristics. Way over my head. But I finally got it to work. Here is a definition of heuristics to give you an idea,
In computer science, heuristics are techniques that help algorithms find approximate solutions to problems more quickly than traditional methods. Heuristics can be used when traditional methods are too slow or can't find an exact solution. They can also be used to find workable solutions for complex problems.
So basically rather than going through every sequence of possible steps to find the solution the code makes estimations at certain points to cut down the number of steps. You can see this happening when you hit the solve button. The first few steps will take a couple of seconds then as it goes along it will get faster. So far it has not missed solving a puzzle.
You will also notice that if the computer solves from the initial start point it is faster than if the player makes several moves first. The computer makes early moves that set up later moves so it is faster if it is allowed to start the puzzle. Geek over.
